Our Barbet Males

Bred by Catherine Verge, Oscar is by Northrock's All Night Boogie and out of Barbevoix Spezia dit Holala. Oscar is co-owned with Nellemarie Hyde and we are thrilled with the success he has had while showing as a puppy. The Hydes are a great home for this special Barbet and I can't thank them enough for their support and friendship. 

At only 8 months of age Oscar finished his CKC Championship very quickly, undefeated in the classes and acquired a BPIG win along the way. Oscar went on to be awarded multiple Best Puppy In Group wins as well as Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed at the Barbet Fanciers of Ontario Specialty show.  We are grateful to the many judges for recognizing the quality of this promising young dog. Thank you to Peter Scott, whom Oscar just adores, for handling him to these exciting wins.  

In early March of 2019 Oscar earned his Canine Good Neighbour temperament title.  He is such a friendly and good natured Barbet and brings a smile to all those he meets.  In April of 2019, Oscar earned the final points needed for his Grand Champion title.  

In 2020 Oscar sired two beautiful litters.  His first litter was born at Patronum Barbets to CH Patronum Bleuzorange Olivia and has produced a CKC Champion. His second litter with CH Northrock's Goodness Gracious CGN ATD was born here at Northrock.  We look forward to watching these young pups grow and mature.

Sired by Dutch Champion Nuphar's Everything Zen and out of our homebred girl BPIS CH Northrock's Eureka CGN, Jax is a littermate to our Gracie. He's a moderately sized Barbet with a masculine head, good tail set and athletic physique. He gets along well with other dogs and is a fun companion to his family.  Jax completed the requirements for his CKC championship in the spring of 2018. He enjoys taking long walks in the forest with his co-owner Paul Walker and trips to the beach with his family. 

Jax has sired litters for Ethelred Barbets, Treebeard Barbets, Frankia Barbets and most recently, Los Sombra Barbets.  He has produced AKC and CKC Champion offspring. His daughter, GCH Lossombra's Murphy's Law is a multiple group winner. We are all so pleased with how these promising litters are developing and grateful to the breeders who have chosen Jax for their girls.

Hadfield is from our Boomer x Ellie breeding.  Co-owned with Marisa Victor, he’s an awesome family dog that lives in Ottawa, Ontario with a family of four young children and two cats.  His temperament is so easy to live with.  Calm and laid back around the house, when it’s time to go, he’s up for joining in on whatever his active family is up to.  Spending time at the cottage in the summertime will find Hadfield taking full advantage of the water.  He likes to swim, and with great enthusiasm, will take a running leap into the lake!

In the fall of 2017 Hadfield earned his Canine Good Neighbour temperament title and was pointed towards his CKC Championship.  After some time off from the show ring he came back out with his handler Noreena Seery and completed the requirements for his conformation title.  A smaller male, Hadfield has good bone and is a well balanced, clean moving dog.  His coat is a dark black with a looser, open curl.  He has a broad skull, nice breadth of muzzle and correct scissor bite.

On January 28, 2020 seven puppies sired by Hadfield and out of GCH Wulymut's Jelly Tot were whelped at Wulymut Barbets. Thank you to breeders Heath and Helen Kenyon for choosing our boy to be the sire of this litter.  The puppies are doing well and one of them has already achieved her CKC Championship.

Odin is fun loving and cheerful Barbet with a wonderful temperament.  His has a soft brown coat with a loose wave and beautiful brown eyes that seem to stare right into your soul. In the fall of 2017, he quickly completed the requirements for his CKC championship.  An adored companion to his co-owner Andrew Rhodes, Odin is a dog that enjoys going on long walks and spending time at the family cottage where you will often find him down by the water taking himself for a swim.

Odin is a curious and friendly dog and is the furthest travelled of all our Northrock family of dogs.  Having lived in Namibia, Africa for a period of time in 2018 and 2019 he has recently returned to Ontario, Canada and completed his health testing.  An athletic and balanced male with a correct bite Odin's hips are rated OFA Excellent, elbows OFA Normal, eyes OFA Normal (E1/E2).  He is clear for dilution and is a carrier for prcd-PRA.

Odin has sired two litters out of two different females for breeder Debra Boudreau at Los Sombra Barbets.  We look forward to following the development of these beautiful puppies.

Pascal is from our first litter here at Northrock. He lives in the United States with his co-owners Joshua Bandoch and Maria Rogacheva. I had the pleasure of spending some time with Pascal in April of 2015 and was delighted with what I saw. Pascal is a very typey, moderate sized Barbet with a loose curl and a dark black coat. He is nicely balanced with good bone and proportions. In July of 2015 Pascal travelled to Canada and quickly earned his CKC Championship.

He is a gentle and kind Barbet that makes friends with everyone he meets. Pascal is sociable with all types of people and handles new situations with ease. His laid-back personality makes him very approachable. He enjoys the water and likes to swim. He has a favourite blue ball that he will retrieve endlessly! Pascal is currently training in agility and enjoying it very much.

We are grateful to the breeders who have chosen to use Pascal in their breeding programs. He has produced litters at Hickory Tavern Farm, Anam Chara, Patronum and here at Northrock. His offspring are a delightful bunch and doing well in their respective homes. Some of his puppies have earned their AKC Certificate of Merit, AKC and CKC Championships, and his son, BIS GCH Hickory Tavern Carnival is a multi group winner and was Best of Breed at the 2023 Barbet Club of America National Specialty. Pascal's offspring  have also earned other performance titles such as dock diving, fast cat, trick titles and one is a visiting Therapy Dog.
